Description

As an Intern in the Architecture team in Pavia, Italy, you will join a team responsible for Architecture development, DSP design, and system modeling for next-generation PHYs.

What you’ll do:

  • You will understand the requirements of serial links as specified by the IEEE and other sources (OIF, MSA, customer requirements)
  • You will familiarize yourself with different modeling approaches for system design and simulation
  • You will work on link budgeting, non-ideality modeling and system simulation
  • You will analyze DSP challenges and opportunities, explore and compare different optimization directions, and generate tradeoff curves of performance and cost (complexity/power/area/design time)

Skills you’ll learn:

  • You will be introduced to state-of-the-art PHY design
  • You will work on high-efficiency DSP design
  • You will learn how to model, simulate, and analyze complex systems involving multi-domain aspects (e.g., physical link/analog circuits/digital circuits/software)
  • You will become an expert user of Matlab and other simulation environments (such as custom C++ simulators)

How you’ll work:

  • You will be part of the Architecture team
  • You will be supervised in all the phases of your work with a reference person who will help you have a fast learning experience.
  • You will participate in meetings, discussions, and brainstorming sessions
  • You will also work with other teams, including analog and digital designers, enriching and expanding your background
  • You will be exposed to an international environment, interacting with teams from multiple locations around the world

What We’re Looking For

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related fields.
  • Must be a last-year master’s student of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, Mathematics, Physics, or a similar technical field, enrolled at an accredited Italian university, or a recent (graduated in the last 12 months) master’s graduate.
  • Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing
  • Knowledge of Communication Theory
  • Basic understanding of Digital Design
  • Basic understanding of Analog Design is considered a plus
  • Basic understanding of CPP and Matlab is considered a plus
