Candidate requirements
Essential qualifications: • Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent). • Experience with structural modeling and FEM tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL). • Understanding of structural dynamics and loading conditions in launch and orbital environments. • Ability to work independently and manage design and testing activities. • Strong analytical and communication skills; fluent in English (written and spoken). • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to manage complex projects independently. Preferred qualifications: • Familiarity with advanced materials (e.g., composites, polymers for space use, metal additive manufacturing). • Prior experience in the design of deployable or articulated mechanisms. • Knowledge of ESA structural requirements for space-qualified systems. • Experience with prototyping or mechanical assembly.Planned activities
Job description: We are looking for a Structural Engineer to join our team and support the design and validation of advanced mechanical systems for space applications. This role is ideal for someone eager to work on advanced mechanical systems for space applications, with a focus on structural modeling, validation, and innovation. As part of our engineering team, you will contribute to the design, simulation, and testing of deployable structures, supporting both R&D and prototyping activities across various project scales. Key responsibilities: • Design and structural analysis of mechanical systems for deployable space structures. • Perform FEM (Finite Element Method) simulations to model structural, vibrational, and thermal behavior. • Support material selection and testing for lightweight, high-resistance components. • Collaborate on rapid prototyping and engage with 3D printing and mechanical processing suppliers. • Define manufacturing tolerances and validate design assumptions. • Coordinate functional and vibrational testing. • Produce technical reports, validation documentation, and engineering justifications.
