Description

The Italian National Fire and Rescue Service (Corpo Nazionale dei Vigili del Fuoco – CNVVF) is a Government Administration operating under the Ministry of the Interior as the key of the Department of Firefighters, Public Rescue, and Civil Protection. The CNVVF ensures nationwide coverage, 24/7, providing Urgent Technical Rescue services and, more broadly, Public Emergency Assistance, as well as fire prevention and fire safety supervision.

CNVVF operations are distinguished by the immediacy of emergency response and require technical expertise, including highly specialized skills. The National Fire and Rescue Service also plays a central role in the National Civil Protection System, guaranteeing technical leadership during first-response interventions. Additionally, the CNVVF participates in the European Civil Protection Mechanism with certified operational modules.

Fire prevention involves a wide range of activities including research, testing, regulation, and inspection, all aimed at reducing the likelihood of fire outbreaks or mitigating their consequences.

Finally, the CNVVF is an integral part of the National Defense System and is tasked with ensuring the continuity of government operations, safeguarding vital national interests, and protecting the population during emergencies that pose risks to national security.
